Planning a vacation to any new city can be both very exciting and intimidating; especially if it is to a city you have never visited before. To make your holiday easier and less hectic, we have compiled a list of things to do in the city of Reno in a day. With a myriad of sightseeing, shopping and dining options, one can never get bored over here. Since the city offers so much to its tourists, it is impossible to explore it all within a day. However, there are some things that one should absolutely do when they are visiting for the first time. Here is a 24 hour itinerary for Reno:

Breakfast at 08:00 am

Start your day in the city early in the morning with a delicious breakfast at Peg's Glorified Ham and Eggs (420 S Sierra Street). They are a popular local food chain restaurant that is known for its traditional American breakfast along with sandwiches, burgers, chili and more. The Stone House Cafe (1907 S Arlington Avenue) is another popular place for breakfast in Reno city, which is known for its diverse menu. If you want some sumptuous wholesome omelets, head to Squeeze In South Reno (25 Foothill Rd Suite 3) in the city.

Reno Arch at 09:00 am

One of the most famous landmarks of Reno city, Reno Arch is a must visit over here. It was built in the year 1926 as a sign of the completion of USA’s first ever motor routes. Since then, the arch has been shifted three times and it currently dwells on the famous Virginia Street in the city. It is the most popular attraction of Reno and is frequently associated with the city’s motto – The Biggest Little City in the World.

National Automobile Museum at 10:00 am

Built during the year 1989, the National Automobile Museum is another famous tourist spot in the city of Reno. It is home to more than 200 vintage cars, each of which is between the 19th and 20th century. The museum is mainly divided into four galleries, each displaying a wide range of cars like Bugatti, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls Royce, Porsche and many more. Moreover, the museum also houses cars that once belonged to famous celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy and John Wayne.

Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts at 12:00 pm

Established in the year 1967, Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is a popular performing arts theater in the city of Reno. Also known as Pioneer Theater Auditorium, the theater was named after the sculpture that was destroyed to build the building. The best feature of this theater is its beautiful golden dome that is known as the Golden Turtle. During the year 2005, the theater became a part of the National Register of Historic Places.

Wild River Grille (17 S Virginia Street), near the theater, is one of the best places in the city to have lunch by the famous Truckee River. Known for its famous appetizers, seafood and steaks, the restaurant has a beautiful patio for dining, which is situated right next to the river. If you want something different, then head towards The Cheese Board (247 California Avenue) for a delicious lunch of sandwiches and salads in a beautiful French decor.

Nevada Museum of Art at 02:00 pm

Renowned as one of the best museums in the entire state, Nevada Museum of Art is famous for its diverse collections and traveling exhibitions. It is home to more than 2000 artworks, some of which belong to the 19th century. The museum was built to represent the culture and history of Reno city.

Opened in the year 1904, Nevada Historical Society Museum is an important historic attraction in the city. It even has an extraordinary research library.

Wilbur D. May Center at 3:30 pm

Comprising of a beautiful botanical garden and a museum, Wilbur D. May Center is another famous tourist spot in the city. While The Wilbur D. May Museum is known for its wide range of antiques and collectibles, the Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a stunning lush area surrounded by flowers, meadows, hidden coves and a creek. It is spread over 12 acres and is open for visitors everyday between sunrise and sunset. The museum even has an art gallery and a complete gift shop for souvenirs. Even though the museum shuts by 4:00 pm, you can still enjoy the botanical garden and its verdant surroundings.

Time for some shopping! Meadowood Mall is a grand indoor mall, located right in the center of Reno city. It is quite famous among locals and is home to more than 100 retails brands, restaurants and salons. It has five anchor stores and is built in a semi-circular design for easy navigation. Some popular stores at the mall include H&M, Macy’s, Sears, Pink, Forever 21, American Eagle Outfitters, Brookstone, JC Penny, Build A Bear, Eddie Bauer and many more.

Meadowood Mall has a vey famous food court called The Palms, which is home to several restaurants. But if you are looking for something more in fine dining, then head towards Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse (407 N Virginia Street) for exceptional service, sumptuous steaks and an extensive wine collection. If you are in a mood for fresh seafood, then head towards Rapscallion Seafood House and Bar (1555 S Wells Avenue) and do try their jerk-spiced Chilean Sea Bass and the Alaskan halibut.

Explore Reno’s Nightlife at 10:00 pm

Often referred to as Mini Las Vegas, try your hand at one of the many casinos in Reno. However, if you are not into gambling, then there are several other options for you to explore as the sun goes down. For people looking to party and dance till the wee hours of the night, head to places like 1up (214 W Commercial Row) and EDGE Nightclub at the Peppermill (2707 S Virginia Street). With amazing DJ’s, pulsating music and latest tracks, these clubs will ensure that you have the time of your life. However, if you want something more laidback, Sapphire Lounge (219 North Center Street) is the place for you.
